THE DIFFERENCE

This is
Flow

01

Get more done with less effort

Computers run slower when we open another tab instead of closing the one before. Our minds are no different. We handle one thing while thinking about another. Only half our attention on the task. Twice the time and effort to finish it. In flow, there's one thing in front of you and all of you is there for it. The work takes less out of you, and you finish the day with something left over.

02

Trust your decisions

In a fight there's no time to think. You see it, you move. If you hesitate you get hit. That's flow, and it's not limited to fighting. Outside the cage we do the opposite. We decide, then spend the week negotiating with ourselves, reading one more thing, asking one more person. In flow, you see it and you move. The time that used to go to second-guessing goes somewhere better.

03

Rest without guilt

We know when the gas light comes on, forcing the car to keep going will only break it down. Yet when we feel ourselves running on empty, we double down and go harder, believing rest is a luxury. In flow, rest isn't a reward for finishing. It's part of how the work gets done. You actually relax, recover and come back sharper.

I've worked with a lot of coaches and done all the practices — meditation, breathwork, psychedelics. None of it truly moved the needle. Mike helped me actually embody the ideas instead of just reading them. I'm a different person than I was a year ago.

From proving to Free

Mike Gonzalez

Since graduating from Penn State in 2010, I sacrificed everything to fighting in MMA (mixed martial arts). From the outside it looked like discipline. No weddings, birthdays, relationships, or time with family and friends. Truth is, I was trying to prove myself to the world. That's not discipline. That's a man running from himself.

I felt alone. My mom was drinking, she was in a dark place and I didn't know how to reach her. My stepfather had been a father to me since I was four. Then he was gone. My dad and I weren't close, because I was hiding that I liked men and I didn't feel safe telling him. Growing up in the Bronx and fighting for a living, that part of me never felt safe anywhere. I carried it as shame and guilt. So I isolated myself and called it strength. I was strong enough to be there for others, but not enough to open up.

In college, I drank heavily to make it quiet. It worked until it didn't. Anger was the only thing safe to feel, and fighting gave it somewhere to go. That was the rush of every fight. Perform and earn love. Fail and lose it all.

Then 2020. I planned to fight six times that year. Then lockdown hit. Suddenly there was nothing to train for and keep me busy. I'd spent years studying mindset and psychology to read my opponent's patterns, and my own. Being my own opponent during lockdown, I found out I was using fighting to cope with the fact that I wasn't happy.

In 2021, my instructor brought me to his seminar in Iceland to help clear my head. What I found was everything I'd missed. Life. On that trip a question showed up. What if I retire?

I was more scared of that thought than any fight I've ever had. That's when I knew I had to face it. Because if I didn't, people would keep calling me a warrior, and I'd know the truth. I was afraid of life without fighting.

I retired the week I got home. A few weeks later my manager called with a title fight, thinking it was just a manic episode. I turned it down.

"I faced my fear in fighting. Now I need to face my fear in life."

That's where the real work started. Not fixing myself. Putting down the self-limiting beliefs, stories, and pain I'd carried since I was a kid. Learning to give myself the very thing I was trying to win.

Now I guide leaders through the same journey, using what fighting taught me. Working with the mind. Moving through emotion instead of around it. Releasing tension in the body before it runs your decisions. I don't teach. I guide you back to who you are underneath the proving.

Let's Talk

You're ready

Fighter kneeling in the cage, taking a breath

What we do together: we look at the story you've been living inside, the one running your decisions without you noticing. Then we create the version of you that makes different ones. Not by adding discipline. By changing who's making the call.

  • I won't tell you what to do.
  • I won't give you advice.
  • I won't hand you a framework.

What I will do is guide you while you create who you are.
